The Power of Natural Mentoring: Shaping the Future for Women and Girls

A foundational exploration of how intentional mentoring relationships shape identity, resilience, and long-term leadership development.

Why This Book Was Written

The Power of Natural Mentoring grew out of Christine’s early work with women and girls and her deep curiosity about how identity is shaped through intentional relationships.

Through interviews, research, and lived experience, she explored how belonging, guidance, and intergenerational connection influence personal growth and leadership formation over time. The book examines how everyday mentoring interactions — when intentional and relationally grounded — can have lasting developmental impact.

At its core, the work affirms a simple but powerful belief: who we become is profoundly shaped by the relationships that surround us.

Where the Thrive Cycle™ Began

During the research and writing of The Power of Natural Mentoring, Christine began identifying recurring developmental patterns in the lives of the women and girls she studied: patterns related to identity formation, navigating change, cultivating leadership voice, and sustaining resilience over time.

Through a research-informed synthesis of interviews and field experience, Christine developed the Thrive Cycle™ — a five-dimension framework that integrates identity formation, transition, leadership voice, and relational development.

The framework was not created as a program model. It emerged from disciplined inquiry and was validated through the real-life experiences of women and girls navigating growth, transition, and leadership.

The Thrive Cycle would later evolve into a broader framework for mentoring
infrastructure and institutional systems design, but its roots remain grounded in relational development and lived experience.
